Brief hello
‘Roman Roads’ is a charity challenge to pedal cycle many of the ancient routes – sometimes on the actual Roman roads – across England over 11 days. The task will include a circuit of England starting from Chichester to shadow parts of the Fosse Way, Watling Street, The Stanegate, Dere Street, Ermine Street and, finally, Stane Street to return to Chichester Noviomagus.
The challenge, for the Chairman of Chichester District Council’s chosen charities Stonepillow and The Pallant House Gallery Community Programme, will include over 1,000 miles of pedalling, passing through Roman settlements including: Bath, High Cross (the centre of Roman Britain), Lancaster, Carlisle, South Shields, York, Lincoln and London.
